The Salt Lake Art Center, in conjunction with the International Sculpture Center, will conduct a field trip to view Robert Smithson's "Spiral Jetty" (1970) on Friday and Saturday morning, Sept. 17 or 18. Both trips include lunch.
"Spiral Jetty" is currently visible for the first time since 1980, due to low water levels.
Friday's event includes a discussion of Smithson's work by: Lynne Cooke, curator, Dia Art Foundation; Robert Hobbs, curator and writer, author of "Robert Smithson Sculpture" 1981; Bob Phillips, Whittaker Construction, Ogden; and Eugenie Tsai, Ahmanson Curatorial Fellow and curator of the Robert Smithson retrospective at the MOCA Los Angeles.
Cost is $150. To reserve space, contact Dawn Martin at 609-689-1051, ext. 129, or dawn@sculpture.org. Space is limited.
