Jeremy Wariner, Otis Harris and Derrick Brew gave the U.S. its first sweep in the men's 400 meters since 1988 and its fourth in the Olympics.

Wariner, 20, became the sixth straight American and 18th in Olympics history to win the 400.

He ran a personal best 44 seconds, while Harris also improved on his best time to collect silver in 44.16. Brew ran a season-best 44.42 for bronze.

Wariner, who ran the fastest time in the world this year, is coached by Clyde Hart, who guided 1996 and 2000 champion Michael Johnson to two world records and five Olympic golds. Wariner is a student at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, which Johnson also attended.
