ADMINISTRATION: Bryan Dangerfield was recently named director of corporate partnerships for BYU's athletic marketing department.
Dangerfield, a Provo native and BYU graduate, has more than two decades of marketing, event management and public relations experience in college, professional and Olympic sports.
Dangerfield, who served as the BYU football media relations director in 1998, later became the executive director of the Utah Summer Games.
In addition to his time at BYU, Dangerfield's collegiate athletic experience includes stints at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Humboldt State University and the University of California, Davis.
Utah State
SOCCER: The women's soccer team was picked to finish ninth in the 2004 Big West Conference preseason coaches poll released Thursday. The Aggies finished sixth a year ago with a 4-3-2 league mark.
Twelve newcomers will join this year's squad. Utah State opens its season with an exhibition match at Idaho State on Aug. 20 at 1 p.m. The Aggies kick off the regular season with a match in Boise against future WAC foe Boise State on Friday, Aug. 27, at 6 p.m.
Weber State
SOCCER: Idaho State is the preseason choice to win the 2004 Big Sky soccer title in a vote of the league's seven head coaches. Weber State, last year's regular season champion, is tabbed to finish fifth. The Bengals have won the last three conference titles and advanced to the second round of the NCAA College Cup last season. The first regular season matches begin on Aug. 27. The Big Sky Championship will be held Nov. 4 and 6.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Weber State women's basketball head coach Carla Taylor announced the 2004-05 schedule Thursday a schedule that includes four games against Utah teams.
The Wildcats open the season Friday, Nov. 19, at Utah State, then will then play at Pacific before competing in two preseason tournaments at Loyola Marymount and the University of Arizona.
The home opener will be Thursday, Dec. 9, against the University of Utah in one of just four non-conference home games. The Wildcats will also host Boise State, Northern Colorado and Utah Valley State along with road contests at Wyoming, BYU and Portland.
Big Sky Conference action will begin Thursday, Jan. 13, against Northern Arizona in Ogden.
