Youth fiction selection

Title: "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH"

Author: Robert C. O'Brien

Synopsis: When mouse widow needs advice on how to move her children safely, she consults the rats who live under the rosebush. Not only do they help her, they tell her of their escape from a laboratory where experimentation made them literate. They also tell her of the brave death of her husband.

Adult fiction selection

Title: "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time"

Author: Mark Haddon

Synopsis: Although gifted with a superbly logical brain, Christopher is autistic. One day, at 15, Christopher's carefully constructed world falls apart when he finds his neighbor's dog, Wellington, murdered with a fork. Christopher decides he will track down the killer, turning to his favorite fictional character, Sherlock Holmes, for inspiration.

Adult non-fiction selection

Title: "The Blood Runs Like a River Through My Dreams: A Memoir"

Author: Nasdijj

Synopsis: The author is the son of a Native American woman and a white, cowboy father. In this memoir, he writes about his rough upbringing, his passion for Native American culture and his adopted son who died at 6 of fetal alcohol syndrome.
