Hackings express their gratitude to the public and Soares family for support and understanding
The following is the text of the Hacking family's statement, released Thursday:
Our family would like to take the opportunity to express gratitude to the public for their understanding and support during this difficult time. We appreciate all who have kept us in their thoughts and prayers throughout the past weeks.
As recently reported in the media, over the weekend of July 24th Mark provided information to family members to assist in finding Lori. At that point, steps were taken to relay this information to the proper authorities as quickly as possible and to halt the majority of search efforts until further information was available.
Please be assured that our primary goal has always been to find Lori. Throughout this process, all decisions have been made in consultation with the Salt Lake City Police Department and with consideration for the time and safety of volunteers and search teams.
Our family is deeply saddened by this situation, and we again express our love and regret to all members of the Soares family. We, too, will continue to grieve for Lori until the day we die.
Please be advised that the family expects privacy and will direct all further media inquiries to Gil Athay and to the Salt Lake City Police Department.
