Osmond barbs too sharp

I think civility is slowly walking out the door these days. I have always been a fan of our wonderful Osmonds and have enjoyed their performances for years. When I attended their show on July 24 in Orem, however, I was a bit disappointed. Aside from the fantastic and electrifying music, the barbs they exchanged with each other — and even on occasion audience members — edged toward mean-spirited. I realize it was intended in a spirit of fun, but I was insulted when an audience member yelled an enthusiastic response, and Wayne Osmond replied with "that old man needs Prozac." He also told a diehard, dedicated fan club member, who obviously traveled a great distance, that she was obsessive-compulsive. Maybe these years of entertaining the masses is finally taking its toll, but I did not pay to attend a "Don Rickles" sort of show.
