Educators throughout Utah are invited to attend the annual National Community of Caring Conference at the University of Utah from Aug. 4-7.
The focus this year will be on ways to incorporate character education into K-12 curriculum.
Community of Caring is a national education program that targets students with intellectual disabilities. Once a school adopts the program, the goal is to create more "inclusive" school communities, to improve attendance and performance, to prevent drug and alcohol abuse and to foster a safer, more respectful school environment.
About 1,000 public, private and parochial schools 20 percent are in Utah have signed on to the program.
