CLEVELAND — Mark Buehrle retired his first 19 batters and pitched a two-hitter, facing the minimum 27 batters to lead the Chicago White Sox over the Cleveland Indians 14-0 Wednesday night.

Buehrle (10-3), who was miffed he didn't make the AL All-Star team earlier this month, didn't allow a runner until Omar Vizquel lined a 3-2 pitch out of the reach of shortstop Jose Valentin with one out in the seventh.

Buehrle, who struck out four and walked none in his first complete game since last Aug. 8, entered just 4-6 in 13 starts against Cleveland. His 5.38 career ERA coming in against the Indians was his highest against any opponent.

Carlos Lee homered twice and Valentin added a two-run shot for the White Sox, who blew open the game with a six-run fifth.

Chicago, which entered the night a half-game out of first in the AL Central, had lost nine of its previous 15.

Cliff Lee (10-2) gave up seven runs and nine hits in four innings, losing for the first time in nine starts since June 3.

TIGERS 4, ROYALS 2: At Detroit, Ivan Rodriguez, Rondell White and Marcus Thames homered to help Detroit beat Kansas City.

Mike Maroth (7-7) allowed two runs and six hits in six innings for the win. Coming off a one-hit shutout of the New York Yankees, he walked two and struck out one.

The left-hander gave way to Al Levine, who pitched two perfect innings. Esteban Yan got one out in the ninth before Jamie Walker retired both of his batters for his fifth career save and first this season.

YANKEES 10, BLUE JAYS 3: At New York, Gary Sheffield hit a three-run homer, Enrique Wilson also connected and the New York Yankees battered the Blue Jays in their first meeting of the season.

The AL East-leading Yankees play the last-place Blue Jays in 19 of their final 70 games.

ORIOLES 10, RED SOX 5: At Boston, Pedro Martinez gave up a season-high eight runs and lost for the first time since May 16, with Miguel Tejada driving in five runs to lead the Baltimore Orioles over the Red Sox.

David Newhan was 4-for-5 with an inside-the-park, two-run homer, a double and two singles, his third four-hit game since the Orioles signed him June 18.

RANGERS 3, ANGELS 2: At Arlington, Texas, Ryan Drese pitched seven innings in another impressive home start, and Michael Young's go-ahead double gave Texas the victory over slumping Anaheim.

Alfonso Soriano homered for the AL West-leading Rangers (54-38), who have their best record through 92 games. They are a season-high 16 games over .500 and 5-1 since the All-Star break.

TWINS 12, DEVIL RAYS 2: At Minneapolis, backup catcher Henry Blanco went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs, helping the Minnesota Twins forget their batting woes for a night.
