DRAPER — Ryan Davies, a Draper City Council member who had planned to leave his position and attend the Harvard School of Business, has changed his mind.

Davies instead will stay in Utah and continue serving on the Draper City Council. He was elected in November 2001.

Davies had planned to officially resign at Tuesday's City Council meeting, but because he had not yet formally resigned, he was entitled to retain his seat on the council, according to a city press release.

"After much consideration, I have decided that staying in Utah is the best thing for my family and I at this time," Davies was quoted as saying. "Although attending Harvard Business School has been a goal of mine, I feel that I must focus my efforts on my family and fulfill the commitment I made to the citizens of Draper who elected me."

Eighteen residents applied for the council position and

five of the applicants were interviewed by the City Council. The

Council had not selected a replacement.
