She said the choir has become much more advanced since she was a part of it. The choir now has 360 members. They receive no pay. For this occasion, they will be joined by the Temple Square Orchestra, which has 110 members.

"I envy them, because it must be just terrific singing in an ensemble like this and knowing that you're a part of something this wonderful," Osgood said of the choir. He credits their successful longtime run to their high musical standards and well-trained voices. He also said it is because of their faith that they sing so well.

"They sing as they do because they believe as they do," he said. "I think that is why they are so great, because they sing with their hearts."

As 14th choir director for the group, Jessop said the choir has been working collectively for more than 150 years to become what it is today.

"I think the fact that it is produced by amateur volunteers adds to the power and beauty of the music," he said. "It is always sung to the people, it has very much been a musical organization that has tried to listen to its listeners and be aware of its audience and to sing and to give those things that the people want to hear and are uplifted and inspired by."

Both the gala concert and the anniversary broadcast require tickets, all of which have been distributed. The 75th anniversary Sunday broadcast will be shown live on KSL-TV at its regularly scheduled time of 9:30 a.m. KBYU Channel 11 will rebroadcast the program at 4 p.m.
