Davis OKs accord on rec center vote

FARMINGTON — The proposed South Davis Recreation complex moved another step closer to reality when the Davis County Commission approved an agreement with Bountiful City for costs relating to the Aug. 3 vote on the issue.

Under the agreement, Bountiful city will collect an equal share of the total election cost from the other four cities involved — North Salt Lake, Woods Cross, West Bountiful and Centerville.

County clerk/auditor Steve Rawlings estimates the total cost of the election at between $30,000 and $50,000. He stressed that only the five cities involved in the district will be paying the tab for the election, not any other Davis County cities.

The election vote is whether or not residents in those five cities want to form a special district to build a $24 million recreation center. This would replace Bountiful's aging recreation center and expand it in size so it could be used by residents of other cities too.
