I would like to comment on the article about LDS gays that appeared in the July 10 edition of the Deseret Morning News. Clay Essig, an active LDS Church member and homosexual, explained there was a conflict between himself and the LDS church, but there existed no such conflict between him and God. As I looked at the photograph in the article, showing Clay standing in front of the Salt Lake Temple, holding his scriptures, I couldn't help but think, "If he would only open those scriptures to seek help concerning this inner conflict of his, he would find places in both the Bible and Book of Mormon that would help him to see that a conflict with God's only true church is a conflict with God."
