DUGWAY PROVING GROUND — A newly completed extension of the Michael Army Airfield runway here will be dedicated Monday by military leaders and Rep. Rob Bishop, who worked with other congressional members to get funding for the project.

Bishop, R-Utah, and other members of Utah's congressional delegation hope the extended runway will make a positive difference for the survival of Hill Air Force Base in the upcoming Base Reduction and Closure process.

The extended runway now allows F-16s and other fighters flying from Hill and other bases to make emergency landings. The Legislature appropriated $2 million for the project in an effort to support Hill.
