Democrats and Republicans are "cooking" their own political goose in the upcoming county mayoral election.
If there has ever been a slam dunk for switching to nonpartisan elections in the county, the circus between Nancy Workman and David Yocom is it. Maybe Yocom is right, and Workman did something illegal, immoral and fattening. Maybe the Republican Central Committee is right, and all Yocom is doing is smearing Workman so his Democrat crony can get elected. I don't know, and frankly, I don't care.
The only candidate I see who's not slinging mud in this race is Merrill Cook. I didn't even know he was running for county mayor until I saw him in the Independence Day Parade. He, at least, is consistent. He's always been for cutting government and passing the savings back to taxpayers. At least with Cook there won't be this partisan bickering, expensive cars and phantom employees.
