Bill Marcroft, long-time play-by-play announcer for the University of Utah on KALL Radio, will step down after the football season.
Marcroft has been the voice of the Utes for 38 years, logging thousands of hours on the air and at least a million miles on the road. Though stepping out of the booth, Marcroft will continue to contribute to pre- and post-game broadcasts beginning with the basketball season.
Marcroft will be honored during a special halftime salute during the Utah-BYU game on Nov. 20.
"Bill has chronicled the exploits of Utah student-athletes and has been a good friend to the athletes, coaches and staff for many years," said Liz Abel, Utah assistant athletics director. "His enthusiasm and enjoyment for his job have been unmatched. We wish Bill well in his retirement and look forward to his continued involvement in Utah athletics."
A nationwide search will begin immediately for Marcroft's replacement.
