EDMONTON, Alberta — As one might imagine on Canada Day, it was all Edmonton as the Trappers swept a doubleheader from the Salt Lake Stingers Thursday afternoon. Edmonton finished off the completion of Wednesday's suspended game with an 8-2 win and picked up the victory in the regularly scheduled game 10-2.

The Stingers looked like they were feeling the side effects of Wednesday's travel nightmare, although they rallied to tie the first game at 2-2 in the sixth on a run-scoring infield single by Gary Johnson and a sacrifice fly by Ryan Budde. The Trappers, though, jumped on Jake Woods (1-1) for three runs in the seventh. Brian Harris put Edmonton in front with a bases-loaded, two-run single to center and Brandon Watson added an RBI single.

Catcher Randy Knorr, who was made an honorary Canadian citizen before the game, capped off his day with a three-run homer in the eighth. Roy Corcoran (3-1) picked up the win with three scoreless innings of relief.

The second game was over before it started as Steve Green (5-8) was roughed up for six runs in the first inning. Valentino Pascucci opened the scoring with a bases-loaded, two-run single. Matt Cepicky followed with a run-scoring single and, after an RBI groundout by Anthony Medrano, John Wilson and Watson delivered run-scoring singles to cap off the inning. Cepicky would later add a three-run homer off Salt Lake reliever Scott Dunn in the fourth inning.

Rob Stanifer (2-0) retired all six batters he faced to gain the win for Edmonton.

NOTES: Yoshi Mizuo will make a spot start today for injured Mike Brunet, who is out indefinitely with a herniated disk in his lower back . . . Mike Brumley, Jim Eppard, Steve Green, Jake Thrower and Greg Jones will be honored as former Trappers before today's game. Eppard is the only Trapper to lead the PCL in hitting as he paced the league with a .341 average in 1987 . . . The Stingers have now been swept in four of the five doubleheaders they've played in. They split the other one in Tacoma.
