SPANISH FORK — The $150 million Upper Diamond Fork Project, a key link in the Central Utah Project to move Colorado River water to the Wasatch Front, will be dedicated Thursday at 10 a.m.

The Central Utah Water Conservancy District, U.S. Department of the Interior and the Utah Reclamation Mitigation and Conservation Commission were the lead agencies in getting the system of tunnels and pipes built, spokeswoman Chris Finlinson said.

The dedication is scheduled at Diamond Fork Canyon. A shuttle will be available to take visitors from the parking area to the dedication site and exhibits that show the project's completion.

Finlinson said people coming to the dedication should dress casually and wear appropriate walking shoes. Exhibits include large photographic displays that tell the story of the Diamond Fork system and the Central Utah Project.

A block of rooms is being held at the Provo Marriott for people coming from out of the area. For reservations, call the hotel at 801-228-9290 and ask for the Diamond Fork celebration. People coming to the event should also RSVP Katherine Crenshaw at 801-226-7123.

The water will eventually be divided between south Utah County and Salt Lake County, Finlinson said.
