HURRICANE (AP) — Former city power superintendent Don Johnson has been charged with misuse of public monies and theft.

Johnson, 48, worked for the city for about 28 years. He was placed on administrative leave in April when the allegations surfaced and resigned the same day.

The charges were brought by the Washington County Attorney's Office. They are third-degree felonies and involve amounts between $1,000 and $5,000.

Johnson is to appear in 5th District Court on June 30.
