President Gordon B. Hinckley, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will celebrate his 94th birthday today in the nation's capital.
He'll be at the White House to accept the Presidential Medal of Freedom the nation's highest civil honor from President Bush.
Born in Salt Lake City on June 23, 1910, he has served as the 15th president of the church since March 12, 1995, and has been a general authority for more than 46 years.
President Hinckley is the fourth-oldest prophet to lead the LDS Church. President David O. Mckay served to age 96 until his death; President Joseph Fielding Smith was 95 and President Ezra Taft Benson, 94 and 8 months old.
