Provo's opening skid hits 3 with loss in Wyoming

CASPER, Wyo. — The Provo Angels suffered their third straight loss to the Casper Rockies (3-1) on Monday. The Angels (1-3) suffered a 9-5 loss after dropping a doubleheader on Sunday. In the late game of the doubleheader, the Angels fell 5-4.

Casper scored six runs in the third inning and led 6-0 before Provo scored its first run.

After a three-run fifth inning, Provo trailed 7-4. A solo home run over the right field fence by Nate Sutton in the eighth then cut the Rockies' lead to 7-5. Sutton also smacked a three-run, bases-clearing double in the fifth inning. Casper countered by tallying two runs in the eighth to up its lead to 9-5.

The two teams conclude their five-game series tonight at 7 p.m. Provo will be host to Idaho Falls at Miller Park on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in its home opener.
