LOS ANGELES Brigham Young University graduates took a bronze medal for their short animation film in the 31st Annual Student Academy Awards Sunday night.
Eleven of the 12 students involved in the production of the award-winning "Lemmings" attended the ceremony at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles. The students received $2,000 in prize money, to be divided between them.
First place, with an award of $5,000 went to a student from New York University for his film "Rex Steele Nazi Smasher." The second place prize was worth $3,000.
"Lemmings" has been entered in more than 20 animation competitions and has won other prestigious awards, including a student Emmy.
