FORT UNION A 5-year-old boy was airlifted to Primary Children's Medical Center Wednesday afternoon in critical condition after an accident on his bicycle.
The boy was riding without wearing a helmet near 6900 South and 2900 East about 12 p.m. when the incident occurred.
"It's under investigation where he was in the roadway," Salt Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Rosie Rivera said. "Whether (he was) all the way there or rode his bike in front of the car."
The car and the bike collided. The car's speed is not considered to have contributed to the accident, Rivera said.
Later in the afternoon, medical personnel notified the sheriff's office the boy's condition was improving and his injuries were not life-threatening, Rivera said.
