The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Community Center of Utah has appointed board member Tami Marquardt as interim executive director.
Marquardt, a longtime center volunteer, was appointed to temporarily succeed Paula Wolfe, who resigned April 15.
"Work at the center is energized and escalating as the staff implements plans for the 2004 Pride celebration scheduled to begin June 11," Marquardt said in a statement.
As a board member for the past three years, Marquardt has been involved in overseeing the center's day-to-day operations and programs. She holds a master's degree in psychology from Utah State University and has been an adjunct psychology professor at USU, a high school English teacher and counselor and the crisis intervention specialist at Park City High School.
The center board will begin a national search for a new executive director in May and plans to fill the position by midsummer. Information, a job description and the application process for the executive director position will be posted on the center Web site at www.glccu.com.
