What: View the night sky with members of the Salt Lake Astronomical Society.

Where: Various locations, but many are held at the club's observing site at Stansbury Park.

When: Beginning at dusk, weather permitting on various evenings throughout the summer

Wasatch Mountain State Park

What: Free fishing day when people from Fish and Wildlife will be doing activities.

Where: Wasatch Mountain State Park in Midway

When: June 12, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ages: Everyone

Cost: Free park admission; golfing, overnight camping and nature trail hiking cost extra

What: Local experts hold campfire programs on a variety of topics: Dutch oven cooking, camp sing-alongs, USFS Smokey Bear, nighttime wildlife, birds of prey and more.

What: Take a guided morning walk to note natural wonders in the park.

What: The Junior Ranger Program offers an outdoor environment for children to learn about topics such as water and natural habitats. Participants also earn a Junior Ranger badge and certificate.
