Mothers Against Drunk Driving have honored a squad of the Salt Lake Police Department that enforces DUI laws, along with Chief Rick Dinse and Mayor Rocky Anderson.

The Motor Squad, with 12 officers and a sergeant, is responsible for DUI enforcement. Officers work from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. The squad makes about two-thirds of DUI arrests for the whole department. In 2003, the squad made 681 DUI arrests, a MADD statement said.

In the first four months of this year, the squad made 294 arrests. There have not been any DUI-related fatalities in Salt Lake City this year, the statement said.
