Enrique Wilson homered and drove in three runs, sparking the Yankees to an 8-3 victory Sunday over the Texas Rangers and helping New York avoid a three-game sweep in Alex Rodriguez's return to Arlington.

Kenny Lofton opened the game with a triple and scored on the play when a relay throw by Michael Young, A-Rod's replacement at shortstop, bounced into the netting in front of the Yankees' dugout for an error.

Javier Vazquez (4-4) allowed three runs and six hits in six innings with six strikeouts, and won for the first time since April 30.

Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a single, double and two strikeouts, and extended his streak of consecutive games reaching base to 32, the longest in the majors this season.

R.A. Dickey (4-4) allowed four runs and eight hits in five innings.

WHITE SOX 17, TWINS 7: At Minneapolis, Carlos Lee had four hits and drove in six runs, and Miguel Olivo and Juan Uribe hit consecutive homers in an eight-run fourth inning to lead the White Sox. Aaron Rowand also had four hits, including a three-run homer, and scored four times as the White Sox set season highs for runs and hits (23). Uribe, Magglio Ordonez and Olivo each had three hits and every starter had at least one hit for Chicago.

RED SOX 7, BLUE JAYS 2: At Boston, David Ortiz had three hits and three RBIs, Tim Wakefield pitched seven solid innings and the Red Sox completed a three-game sweep. The win was the seventh in nine games for the Red Sox, who jumped to a 6-0 lead after three innings. Toronto has lost five straight on the road and is 8-14 away from SkyDome. Wakefield (4-2) gave up two runs and seven hits — all singles — in seven innings as Boston (27-17) moved 10 games over .500 for the first time this season.

DEVIL RAYS 5, INDIANS 4 (10): At St. Petersburg, Fla., Tino Martinez's bases-loaded single in the 10th inning gave Tampa Bay a victory over Cleveland and its first four-game winning streak this season. Rocco Baldelli hit a one-out double off David Riske (0-2). After Aubrey Huff was intentionally walked and Jose Cruz Jr. walked to load the bases, Martinez lined a single to right on a 1-2 pitch. Toby Hall hit a home run, and Travis Harper (1-0) threw three scoreless innings.

MARINERS 3, TIGERS 1: At Seattle, Freddy Garcia pitched seven strong innings and John Olerud hit a solo home run to lead the Mariners. Olerud led off the seventh with a shot into the Detroit bullpen on a 1-0 pitch from Jeremy Bonderman (4-3). Raul Ibanez drove in two runs, and the Mariners won for only the third time in their last 14 games.
