MARILYN ARNOLD,
Brigham Young University professor emeritus of English and author of five novels since her retirement, has won the Mayhaven Publishing Co.'s annual award in fiction for her new manuscript, "Minding Mama," to be published this year. MAURINE HALTINER, Salt Lake City, has won first place as Poet of the Year in the 2004 Utah State Poetry Society Contest, for her collection of poems, "A Season and a Time," to be available for purchase in October. She retains the title of Utah State Poet of the Year through April 2005. SUE RANGLACK, Murray, was awarded second place for her poetry collection, "Shouting From the Book of Orange, and N. COLWELL SNELL, Salt Lake City, won third place for "Hand Me My Shadow."
