Invasion of cicadas

After a 17-year nap, a cicada sheds its skin Sunday in Annandale, Va. Trillions of the red-eyed insects are emerging above ground in 14 states and Washington, D.C. The loud insects will fly into pets, bushes and pedestrians as they engage in a frenetic mating that lasts well into June. Then the bugs will disappear for another 17 years.
