"We think this is the only place we're going to see it," Norseth said. "But it's going to affect every part of our lives."
Norseth, who works in grocery sales, said there is a lot of talk in the industry about food costs going up due to rising gas prices.
Glass installers Chris Kimmel and Ben Davis say gas prices are also bumping up the cost of their product. It used to cost them about $50 a week to fill up their work truck. Now, it's running $65 to $70 a week. All they can do is shrug.
"I figure it's something I have to do. There's nothing I can do about it," Kimmel said.
High gas prices also are driving up the cost of love.
Salt Lake resident Marcae Roper goes to Provo in her Honda Accord two or three times a week to see her fiance.
"This week alone, I spent $55 on gas," she said. "I just filled up. It was 27 bucks."
She paid $1.87 a gallon Friday with a preferred saving card at a supermarket on 3300 South.
Roper would consider driving less, "if I didn't want to see my fiance. (But) right now, it's worth it to me."
