Lee Benson does not owe anyone an apology for his May 5 column as demanded by John Kriesel (Readers' Forum, May 7). The column was factual and to the point, reminding readers that as a state-funded institution, the university is obliged to obey those laws that are relative to its operation.

Mr. Benson correctly points out that when university leadership chooses to disobey the law, their unconscionable example negatively impacts our entire community, university students especially.
