We can all pray together

According to the article "Prayer without LDS hit a nerve" (May 5), Pastor Gene Short said ". . . it would be hard to pray in agreement with LDS people because we have great doctrinal differences."

I find it hard to believe someone would really think he or she cannot pray in agreement with LDS people because of our doctrinal differences. Does that mean that when in accordance with the suggestion on the National Day of Prayer Web site, I (an LDS woman) pray that President Bush will be "granted divine wisdom, guidance and strength to fulfill his important role," Pastor Short cannot be in agreement with me on that?

In looking over the information on the National Day of Prayer Web site, I found the following: "The National Day of Prayer belongs to all Americans. It is a day that transcends differences, bringing together citizens from all backgrounds."

Too bad some of those promoting the National Day of Prayer here in Utah missed that.
