No. 1 issue: The need to clean up corruption, waste and mismanagement in Utah state government. If we would do that we would have more than enough money to fund education and the other things that need to be funded in the state. There are over 5,000 more employees in state government today that there were 10 years ago and the state budget has grown from $3.5 billion to $8.2 billion, and that needs to be cleaned up. And there are a lot of other forms of corruption, waste and mismanagement, etc. as well.

Jim Hansen

Residence: Farmington, Davis County

Age:71

Marital status: Married, 5 children, 9 grandchildren

Education: University of Utah, bachelor's degree

Profession: Independent insurance agent, president of Utah land development company

Political experience: Farmington City Council, state House of Representatives (House speaker 1979-1980), U.S. Congress (11 terms).

No. 1 issue: As the only candidate with proven experience at the local, state, and federal levels, I have the knowledge and contacts to make things happen for Utah. I will fight for our lands and our water rights. I will fuel the economy by cutting income and business taxes. I will promote job creation and increase funding for education and other essential state services by responsibly developing Utah's vast supply of natural resources. I will aid small business by eliminating burdensome regulations. I alone am prepared to fight to keep Utah's largest employer, Hill Air Force Base, viable.

Parley Hellewell

Residence: Orem, Utah County

Age: 54.
