DES MOINES, Iowa (Dow Jones/AP) After nearly two years of falling sales, Burger King Corp. has broken out of a slump that was beginning to cast doubts on the chain's latest management team.
Sales at U.S. Burger King restaurants open at least a year, also known as same-store sales, grew 4.4 percent in February from the same period last year. It was the first time in 21 months that same-store sales grew at the 7,700 domestic restaurants.
Also, April was the "single highest positive comparative month for the chain's company restaurants since November 1999," Burger King chief executive Brad Blum told a franchisee convention.
Burger King didn't say how its U.S. restaurants had fared in March.
