Regarding the Reno Mahe article, I believe that I have a unique perspective. Up until April 14, I was a lifelong resident of south Philadelphia. Mahe is well-liked because of the work ethic and determination he brings to the Eagles. Andy Reid has made a reputation as the Eagles' coach for bringing guys like Mahe: hard workers who put the team above everything else. Chickie's and Pete's is a huge gathering place, and it is not uncommon to see sports celebrities during and after the games. For a guy who makes a quarter of a million dollars to want to get up close and meet the fans says a lot about why he is embraced.
What the article does not mention is that Mahe also teaches a Book of Mormon class during football season at an inner-city Latter-day Saint church. I plan on watching my Eagles play and will root especially hard for Mahe. Good guys are easy to root for.
