Campus weapons cut crime

The University of Utah has decided not to comply with the new law that allows concealed weapons permit holders to carry on campus until their appeals run out. This in the face of crime statistics higher than the national average. (Campus safety, April 20) Fred Esplin, U. spokesman and apologist, tried to explain away the embarrassing statistics by saying "downtown crime spills over onto campus grounds, which increases crime statistics."

Nice try, but statistics prove that complying with the new law, allowing students to exercise their Second Amendment rights, will reduce all felonies and make for a safer environment of learning.
