Utah wide receiver Paris Warren is scheduled to have his right knee scoped today to alleviate fluid that has been building up since last week's scrimmage. The Utes' lone returning first-team all-conference performer is expected to be sidelined for a couple of weeks, depending on the size of the tear in his meniscus.
"He's going to miss the spring game but other than that he'll be full speed by the time we get going for conditioning and summer training (in June)," said Utah coach Urban Meyer.
Warren, who'll be a senior next fall, vowed he'll be ready. There was no negotiation, added Meyer, about getting the surgery done as soon as possible. The decision was easy.
"I can play but I don't want to risk it and be out for months," said Warren. "I'd rather just get it done now."
Meyer agreed.
Warren broke Utah's single-season receptions record with 76 last season.
The Utes lost another player to injury Tuesday when cornerback Shaun Harper suffered a broken finger on his left hand in practice. He's likely sidelined for the rest of spring drills.
