Those Jan. 7 tickets are good on Monday

LOS ANGELES — All tickets to the Jazz's Jan. 7 game against Memphis will be honored when that game is made up Monday night at the Delta Center, Jazz officials have announced.

The original game was postponed and later rescheduled because inclement weather prevented the Grizzlies from traveling to Salt Lake from Portland.

POP APPROVES: Add San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich to the growing number of supporters who think Jazz coach Jerry Sloan deserves to win NBA Coach of the Year honors for the first time in his career.

"If he got it, it would be very justified," Popovich said after his Spurs beat the Jazz — a team he called "a tough defensive club, a very good disciplined club" — Friday night at the Delta Center. "He should have gotten it several times."

MILLER TIME: Were you wondering what Jazz owner Larry H. Miller said to Tim Duncan when he was seen whispering to the Spurs star and two-time NBA MVP near midcourt just before Friday's opening tip?

Duncan, via the San Antonio Express-News, provides the answer:

"He said, 'I love the way you play the game. I love the way you represent the game,' " Duncan said. "I thought that was really nice. . . . I know he's been a very good owner for these guys over the years, so I really appreciated it."
