A German shepherd was shot and killed during a drug bust in Brigham City Thursday after the dog attacked an officer and his K9.
The Box Elder Narcotics Strike Force served a warrant at a house Thursday morning as part of an ongoing investigation. Two dogs, a pit bull and German shepherd, were in the house along with two 18-year-old men. The pit bull attacked one of the police officer's dogs while the German shepherd went after the officer, said Box Elder Sheriff's Chief Deputy Lynn Yeates.
The shepherd bit the officer on the boot before he was kicked away, Yeates said. The German shepherd then went to attack the police K9 along with the pit bull.
Officers first used pepper spray to get the dogs away. When that was ineffective on the German shepherd, officers were forced to shoot the dog, Yeasts said.
A small amount of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia was found in the house. Both men were arrested and booked into the Box Elder County Jail for investigation of various drug charges.
