Brigham Young University students Joseph Delpriore and Stacy Johnson tied for second place Saturday in the young dancers championship on TV's "Star Search."
The duo competed against two solo acts and narrowly lost in an online vote by the program's viewers. The winner, Jon Bond, received $100,000 in prize money.
"That was so classy," program host Arsenio Hall said after the Utahns completed their two-minute routine.
The three celebrity judges also liked the performance, making comments such as, "you're absolutely gorgeous," "you guys are like the perfect combination," and "you're elegant and you're two people dancing as one."
An interview with Delpriore, 22, and Johnson, 21, the reigning Miss Utah for 2003, was aired before they performed.
"Dancers don't get a lot of opportunities to be in the spotlight on national TV, and Star Search has been so wonderful because it's given us the opportunity," Delpriore said on the broadcast. "It's been great."
Delpriore and Johnson eliminated last season's champion two weeks ago.
