Attention, citizens of Utah. It has come to my attention that the southern Utah city of Washington is planning to place a statue of John D. Lee on a pedestal on the corner of Telegraph and Main streets. This is the same John D. Lee whose name has become synonymous with the Mountain Meadows Massacre, due to his being the only person convicted in the terrible slaughter. I am appalled and disgusted that the city would spend money for this project. Couldn't the money be better spent on fixing chuckholes and youth recreation programs rather than a statue of a convicted mass murderer?
