The 2003 International Championship Cook-off, sponsored by the International Dutch Oven Society, takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the South Towne Expo Center, 9575 S. State, Sandy. The event is part of the Doug Miller-International Sportsman's Expo, which costs $9 for adults and is free for youths 12 and under.
Thirteen teams that have already won a Dutch oven competition this year will vie for the top prize of $1,500. They must cook a "three-pot" meal of a dessert, bread and main dish, all in Dutch ovens with charcoal as a heat source.
On March 20, the IDOS will hold its Seventh Annual Spring Convention at the Davis County Fairgrounds in west Farmington. The public is welcome to attend free workshops, outdoor cooking demonstrations and stroll through the commercial exhibits from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A membership meeting begins at 3:30 p.m.
