Ryan Chambers drove in the Cougars' first run in the third inning with a single after a double by Wade Vest. BYU then scored four more runs in the fourth led by Cloward's home run and a triple by Rob Itri.

Utah

BASEBALL: Utah (4-8) rattled off 16 hits en route to its third straight win, a 14-10 victory over Central Michigan at Dixie High School in St. George on Saturday.

Utah scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning, two on an RBI-double by junior Matt Ciaramella, another on a one-run double by junior Tyson Olson. The Utes plated the other two runs on ground-outs.

Central Michigan responded with eight runs on five hits in the top of the second to take an 8-5 lead. The Utes cut the lead to two in the bottom of the inning when senior Jared Pena scored on a double play.

Utah took a 10-8 lead in the bottom of the third when senior Michael Westfall Jr. and junior Trevor Eastman both doubled, followed later by a Pena three-run homer to center field. Central Michigan tied the game at 10 apiece in the top of the fourth with a solo homer and an RBI-double.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Utes took the lead for good when Pena hit an RBI-double, then advanced to third on a wild pitch and was brought home on a single by sophomore Ryan Khoury.

Five Utes had multi-hit games, led by Pena, who was a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs and five RBI.
