Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson is feeling the love.
This week Anderson signed a proclamation declaring May 1 "Global Love Day" in Salt Lake City, which is probably not surprising given the mayor's appetite for acting on a planetary level.
"I'm looking for global love," Anderson said with a smile Thursday when asked how he will celebrate Global Love Day.
According to Anderson's proclamation, "Global Love Day will establish a worldwide focus toward an unconditional love of oneself and others. "The proclamation continues: "love begins with self-acceptance and forgiveness, whereas, we embrace diversity through love and tolerance."
But what kind of love will be shared on Global Love Day?
Harold Becker, spokesman for The Love Foundation, Inc., which hatched the idea for Global Love Day, said the day is all about the love of self, which produces a love for others.
Becker said only Anderson and the mayor of Tampa, Fla., where the Love Foundation is located, have signed proclamations declaring May 1 Global Love Day.
