Kirilenko earns NBA honors

For the second time this season, Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko has earned NBA Western Conference Player of the Week honors.

Kirilenko was honored Monday for a week in which the Jazz went 3-0, with two victories over Seattle and one at Sacramento.

He had 27 points, 10 assists, four blocks and three assists in Utah's first win over the Sonics; 22 points, eight boards and three blocks in the second and 24 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and three steals vs. the Kings.

His averages in the three-game span: 25 points, 10.7 boards, 3 blocks, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals.

Kirilenko, a first-time NBA All-Star this season, also earned the honor for the week of Nov. 2-8.

NEW VICE PRESIDENT NAMED: The Jazz on Monday named Caroline Shaw their new vice president of communications and public relations, succeeding departed David Allred.

Most recently, Shaw worked as chief communications officer for the Salt Lake Organizing Committee during the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Previously, she spent eight years working in communications for the State Department, including a stint as spokesperson for Madeleine Albright, and served at both the U.S. Embassy in Israel and at the United Nations in New York.

SUCCESSFUL DRIVE: A generous amount of clothes and other items were collected Monday night from Jazz fans responding to Kirilenko's call for donations to his Kirilenko's Kids foundation, which benefits needy children his native Russia.

MISC.: Because their next game is not until Friday night vs. Indiana, the Jazz have both today and Wednesday free from practice. . . . One game after scoring a career-high 19 points at Sacramento, Jazz rookie Mo Williams logged just four minutes and went scoreless.
