A quiz about Oscar ripoffs (er...remakes)

Hollywood's motto seems to be, if you're going to rip something off, rip off the best. Hence, our annual Oscar trivia quiz.

This is different than quizzes past. Just a measly four questions, with a slew of answers after each one.

It may help erase any doubts that Hollywood feeds on itself.

1. Which best-picture Oscar winners are remakes? (Look-alikes don't count; actual remakes only.)

A. "Hamlet" (1948): too many versions to count, from 1910-2001

B. "Marty" (1955): "Marty" (TV, 1953)

C. "Gigi" (1958): "Gigi" (non-musical, 1948)

D. "Ben-Hur" (1959): "Ben-Hur" (silent, 1925)

E. "West Side Story" (1960): "Romeo and Juliet," too many to count, from 1911-2002

F. "My Fair Lady" (1964): "Pygmalion" non-musical, too many to count, from 1938-83 (including TV versions)

G. "Oliver!" (1968): "Oliver Twist," too many to count, from 1918-1999

H. "Titanic" (1997): "Titanic" (1953), "A Night to Remember" (1958)

I. "Chicago" (2002): "Chicago" (1927), "Roxie Hart" (1942)

2. Which best-picture Oscar winners have been remade? (Same rules as above.)

A. "The Broadway Melody" (1928-29): "Two Girls on Broadway" (1940)
