Only two days remain for students to enter the Deseret Morning News' "Cover a Game Contest."
Entry deadline from seventh- through 11th-graders is 5 p.m. Thursday. The contest winner will join Jazz beat writer Tim Buckley courtside when the Utah Jazz play Indiana on Friday, March 5. A game report by the winner will be published in the next day's newspaper. (A contest was held earlier this season for adults.)
To enter, submit a sample sports story about any basketball game you watch on TV or in person. Stories should be no longer than 600 words; they will be judged on detail, writing style, humor, conciseness and clarity. Please include your name, address, parents' names, e-mail and day and night telephone number. Fax to 237-2528, e-mail: to johnson@desnews.com.
Winners' names will be published in the newspaper on March 3.
The grand-prize winner also will have dinner in the press room and share insights on KFNZ radio. Two guests will receive VIP tickets for the game. Other winners may receive tickets to a regular-season game, Jazz T-shirts or baseball caps.
For complete rules, see Cover a Game. For additional information, call (801) 236-6000.
