Despite a lot of lingering "what ifs," the Utah Senate on Friday advanced a proposal to allow the Workers Compensation Fund to move ahead with privatization.
SB165, by Sen. Curtis Bramble, R-Provo, now gets an opportunity to be scrutinized by a House committee, which Bramble said is likely to be peppered with "misinformation" designed to derail the proposal.
Bramble said passage of the measure is necessary for the fund to remain competitive. The fund operates as the carrier of last resort, insuring workers who are injured on the job.
