The tournament hasn't started and already there's been another upset besides Wayne de-throning Panguitch. Waterford defeated St. Joseph's for the region 17 title. The Jayhawks were unbeaten in region play, while Waterford had just one loss. St. Joseph's will be in the same bracket as Duchesne, a team they barely beat in the pre-season, Wayne and West Desert, which finished second to Dugway. Waterford will take on Tabiona in the tournament's opening round.

The Mustangs lost two region games, but won the region title out-right as they beat the Hawks both times the teams played. Dugway has solid players in Tiffanie Fields, Cassandra Langi and Mindy Shultz. West Desert is led by Jessie Allred and Heather Timm.

Meanwhile, West Desert faces either Layton Christian or Escalante, Dugway will take on Salt Lake Lutheran or Bryce Valley.

The first-round of play begins Wednesday at 10 a.m. The championship game will be held Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center at 5 p.m.
