PROVO Police continue to search for the driver of a stolen Ford Explorer that rammed a Provo police squad car Tuesday.
Police believe the driver was Zachary James Fausett, 23, Pleasant Grove.
He is wanted for questioning by the Provo police and the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force.
On Tuesday, police say, a white 1997 Ford Explorer was in a minor traffic accident with another car at 1066 S. University Ave.
The two cars pulled into the parking lot of the nearby Wendy's fast-food restaurant.
Provo Police Lt. Rick Healey said the driver of the Explorer told the other driver that he was a fugitive and that he'd flee if police were called.
Minutes later, Provo police officer Robert Payne pulled into the parking lot.
That's when the driver of the Explorer drove directly into the police car, slightly injuring Payne. Then, the driver backed up and hit the police car again on its left side, police said.
The driver fled on University Avenue, officials said.
Police say the Ford Explorer, license plate 922 LHH, was stolen from Pleasant Grove.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Provo police at (801) 852-6210.
