ALPINE A committee established to evaluate the merits of creating a new school district has posted a survey on the Utah County Web site.
The survey addresses matters dealing with the proposed split of the Alpine School District to create a new district in north Utah County.
Copies of the survey will also be available at the Utah County Commission Office, 100 E. Center, in Provo.
The committee will report its findings to county commissioners on June 29. The commission will then have 45 days to receive additional public comment.
The commission will then determine whether there is sufficient evidence that a new school district is needed to justify putting the issue on the November ballot for a public vote.
It would take a majority vote by residents in the proposed boundary for the new district and a majority vote of the remaining Alpine voters for the division to be approved.
